Book Review

Revival by Stephen King

A Novel by Stephen King

My Rating: 5 Stars

Stephen King is a brilliant writer… but he’s a dick. This book really screws with your mind and makes you question everything you’ve ever known or assumed or expected. It’s terrifying to even consider!

I loved Jamie and I loved his whole story. I can even understand why Charles Jacobs did what he did, and I was sobbing at his loss…. Possibly because I superimposed my own son’s face on his, which was a bad idea. The characters are amazingly well rounded and likable. Actually, everything about this book was amazing.

King did an amazing job of creating that “monster creeping up behind you” feeling, and even when there wasn’t much interesting happening, I could still feel that unseen creeper, keeping me hooked and turning pages… “Curiosity is a terrible thing, but it’s human.”

Quotes from the book:

Sometimes death is natural, a mercy that puts an end to suffering. But all too often it comes as an assassin, full of senseless cruelty and lacking any vestige of compassion.

That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons, even death may die.

This is how we bring about our own damnation, you know – by ignoring the voice that begs us to stop. To stop while there’s still time.

Curiosity is a terrible thing, but it’s human.

There is hope, therefore I live.
